Media Site: Freelance & Independent Talent Directory

Michigan’s Creative Coast, Traverse Connect’s talent attraction and placemaking program, has launched the first and only digital directory for freelancers, entrepreneurs, and independent contractors in the Grand Traverse region.

Purpose: The Freelance & Independent Talent Directory showcases the creative freelancers and independent entrepreneurs ‘making it’ in the Grand Traverse region. The directory offers these entrepreneurs a microsite to showcase their resumes, portfolios, and services to businesses and employers looking for local talent and creates business-to-business development among freelancers.

Michigan’s Creative Coast is currently recruiting freelance talent who would like to be listed in the directory. Intentionally limited to small businesses with no more than two full-time employees to foster early-stage growth, the directory listings begin at $100 for a 12-month subscription that may include a logo, headshot, work samples, references, contact information, website, social media pages, and a bio with additional promotion by Michigan’s Creative Coast.

  • Quote 1: “No one knows the challenges and opportunities in the Grand Traverse region and surrounding communities like the locals. There are so many talented, passionate and ambitious local professionals that have so much to contribute. Together, we are stronger. We all benefit when local businesses succeed and support each other.”
  • Quote 2: “My business is primarily conducted online these days, so many of my clients are located across the country. My goal, however, is to become more involved in my local community here in TC. We moved here recently, and I am wondering if my services can help any of our local businesses. I see working with local businesses as a win-win situation. It would be a benefit to me to help local businesses succeed and to make more connections in the community.”

  • About: “I have been solving organizational problems with strategic software engineering for over a decade. During my tenure, I have proudly shipped solutions for organizations such as MIT, United Nations World Food Programme, Fiat Chrysler, Southern Poverty Law Center, The Atlantic, and many others.”
  • Quote: “When I left my remote job at The Atlantic to start a software business, my professional network was centered around the Washington D.C. area. With those connections I have been fortunate to work with many high-impact national organizations. Now I’m looking forward to also becoming more actively engaged in my local community. I’m excited to join Michigan’s Creative Coast to bridge that remote-to-local gap.”
